SWEA Boston Scholarship

SWEA Boston offers scholarships to female undergraduate and graduate students or doctoral candidates who want to pursue studies, work/study, or research in Sweden for at least one semester or a full academic year. In special circumstances, applicants who are planning studies or projects during the summer are also considered. Applicants must be enrolled at a New England college/university and be residents of a New England state, i.e., have a permanent /home address in a New England state.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

For the academic year of 2026/2027, the total scholarship amount gifted is $12,000. Please note that all applications for the academic year 2026/2027 (fall and spring semesters) are due in March.

Application Deadline: March 15, 2026

 

It is expected that those students who receive a stipend share their experience in Sweden with SWEA in the following ways: write a blog post for our SWEA blog, attend one of our events, meet some of our members or write a travel report when your return.

SWEA members from the past 5 years and their close family members are excluded from participation.

SWEA (Swedish Women’s Education Association) is a global network with around 6,000 Swedish-speaking women in more than 70 chapters in over 30 countries. SWEA is the largest non-profit organization outside of Sweden that promotes the Swedish language, culture, and traditions. In Boston, we have around 100 members and are dedicated to promoting Swedish culture and traditions in New England.
