Previous scholars (Eng)

SWEA Boston’s scholarships are handed out every year to female students from New England universities for studies or special projects in Sweden. All of this is possible due to the large fundraiser, Swedish Yuletide, which is being held in December every year in the South End. In 2019, the scholarship sum was at $6,000.

This year the SWEA Boston Scholarship Committee rewarded the scholarship to from Ileeana Johnson.

She attends Northeastern University, is both on the Dean´s List and an “Honor Student”. On the side she has four jobs to finance her studies.

The SWEA Boston Scholarship Committee voted unanimously to give $6,000 to Ileana for her project proposal in Sweden.

Ileeana has been offered a very fine internship, unpaid, at the Universal Music Group in Stockholm and will spend the whole fall semester there until January 2020. As we all know Swedish music is one of Sweden’s biggest export products, not only artists and pop groups but also music and music and royalties.

Ileeana is majoring in Music at Northeastern. In Stockholm she will learn about marketing both music and musicians who are connected with the Universal Group, and she will also help with interviews and social media.

She was thrilled when she heard that she was chosen to receive the SWEA Boston Scholarship for this once in a lifetime opportunity.

By early November, Ileeana has completed two thirds of her internship, and we have had several reports from her about how much she enjoys her experience at Universal and is also making the most of  living in the beautiful city of Stockholm.

In January, her internship will come to an end and she will be returning to Northeastern. She has kindly offered to come to a SWEA meeting and share all her wonderful experiences in Sweden.

We are so pleased that SWEA Boston had the opportunity to support Ileeana for her internship in Sweden.
